The Run for Rural Medicine, or Hart Half as it is known among the older running crowd, is a rolling paved course that takes you north into the farms and rural areas of the Hart community. Due to the nature of spring in the north, the weather can vary from sunny and warm to snowy, windy, and below zero celcius, so keep an eye on your favourite weather source leading up to this event so you're not surprised on race day!

Every year the medical students of UNBC and the PG Road Runners Club get together to put this event on. This relationship, started in the mid-2000's, came about when the medical students were looking to put on a spring running event in order to raise funds for a local charitable organization. As most weekends were taken up by PGRR and other events already, a relationship was struck between the UNBC mecical students and the PGRR club to change one of the existing PGRR events into what is now the Run for Rural Medicine. This event raises much-needed funds for a local charity and is the most well-attended PGRR event!

This year, funds raised through sock sales and partial race entry fees will go to Hope Air, an organization that arranges free flights to get financially-disadvantaged Canadians to the healthcare they need. For more information, please visit www.hopeair.ca.
