The Gathering Prediction Run has moved! The event will now take place at the Band Shell at Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park, and will be the weekend before the May long weekend.
2014 was the first year that The Gathering became a prediction run, and it was incredibly fun for those that participated. Prizes are handed out for the person that best predicts their time, along with other, very random, reasons for giving out prizes.
There are different ways to organize prediction runs. Below is a description of how the PGRR version is operated:
At 9am, we will start the clock in countdown mode from 1 hour. As a runner, your responsibility is to keep a close eye on that clock. When the clock gets down to the time that you think you can run the route in, you start running the course. The winner of this event is the person who is closest to "0" on the clock at the finish line.
This event will NOT be won by the fastest runner, but by the runner who knows themselves the best on this course. Watches and other timing devices such as cell phones are not worn for events such as this, so in the spirit of fair play we ask that you also leave your watches and cell phones behind.

New for 2015, this is a two lap course. Runners will meet at the Band Shell at Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park. Starting behind the Band Shell, the course follows the access road along the river, heading south until ot bends to the right (west) and heads over to Ingledew Street. From Ingledew, runners will turn right onto 20th Avenue, and then left onto Gorse Street. From Gorse, runners will turn right onto 17th Avenue and head down to the end of the road and turn left onto Ash Street, then a quick right onto Taylor and another quick right onto the path back into Lheidli T'enneh Memorial Park where they will repeat the loop once again, finish the run behind the Band Shell, and celebrate with fellow prediction run runners.
- In the interest of fairness and fun, the PGRR Club asks all runners taking part to not wear watches or other timing devices, such as cell phones, for this event.
- As per PGRR Club policy, both headphones and pets are not permitted on course during the event.
- This course heads through sub-divisions, so please pay attention to the markers on the road and sign posts at intersections.
- Since this is a prediction run, it is not the fastest runner who will win, but the person who knows her or himself the best over the distance.
