Joe Kelly was an active member of the Prince George running community and a mentor to many local runners. Sadly, Joe was taken from his family and friends when he was struck and killed by a falling branch while racing in Australia in 2013.
In consultation with Joe's wife, Laura, and his daughters, the Prince George Road Runners Club changed its year-end members' run into the annual Joe Kelly Memorial Run in his honour.
Every October, runners come out to the Otway Nordic Centre to take part in celebrating Joe's life. The event consists of 30-minute, one-hour, and two-hour group runs on both trail and road, starting from the lodge.
Donations in memory of Joe are accepted for the 'Right to Play' - an organization dedicated to protecting, educating and empowering children to rise above adversity, using the power of play.
