Participation Guidelines for
Children in Our Race Distances
The Prince George Road Runners (PGRR) club strives to inspire city residents. This includes families and people in all ranges of running abilities. The PGRR includes/provides 1 km free kids races with run leaders at many of our
events. Children may also participate in our other race distances within the following restrictions

Children under the age of 19
must have a waiver signed by their legal parent or guardian.

Children Under 5 Years Old
Children under the age of 5 are not permitted to participate in any race exceeding 1 kilometer.

Children Aged 5 – 9 inclusive
Children in this age group are eligible to participate in road races and/or trail races up to 5 km – with individual race support (See Individual Race Support below).

Children Aged 10 – 15 inclusive
Children in this age group may participate in road races up to 10 km. - Individual race support is not required for road races in this age group.
They may participate in trail races up to 10 km – with individual race support (See Race Support below). -
Children Aged 16 and over
Children in this age group may participate without restrictions.
Individual Race Support: It is essential to recognize that all sporting events carry inherent risks. Where listed in the above categories, we expect parents or guardians who register their children for these distances to provide continuous in person support throughout the entire course.
Before making your decision to register your child and sign the waiver, we ask that you read Guidelines for the inclusion of Children and Youth in Road Races. It was written by Athletics Canada. Safety and well-being remain our top priorities.
