Early Season Quick Facts

Posted onMarch 24, 2022

Phew, who knew it could be so challenging to get back up-to-speed after three years off?

One of our runners shared that he’s been shaking off the cobwebs and we’re feeling that!

A few things have changed since we held our last in-person race in the fall of 2019, but we’re feeling like we’ve got some oil worked into the rusty bits now…

And we’re super excited for the Heights Fiver on Sunday!

We can’t wait to re-connect!!

The board has been fielding lots of questions from returning and new club members, which is awesome.  We believe our website is up to date, but feel free to email us if you see an issue.  In the meantime, here are some of the answers to the most frequently asked questions as the season kicks off:

Do I need to present proof of vaccination to attend PGRR Run Groups or Races this season?

No.

PGRR’s top priority is to ensure the health and safety of our participants and volunteers.  The club will continue to abide by all provincial and regional Health Orders and follow recommendations from BC Athletics.  For a complete list of our 2022 season policies, please see our membership page.

Do I need to be a PGRR member to come out to your Run Groups or Races?

No.  You don’t have to be a club member to come out to a race – just sign up online or at the event on race day.  We have our 2022 Race Schedule listed on our website and information on each race is available under the Race tab on the top right-hand side.

Race fees for most of our events are $10 for 5km, $15 for 10km, and $25km for 21.1km (*exceptions are Hurt’n Bear and Labour Day Classic)

Run Groups – join us for two or three runs…and we’ll have you hooked!  After that, we ask that you purchase a Half Membership for $60 to cover your liability and sports/injury accident insurance through BC Athletics.

How much is a Full Membership?

A Full Membership is $100 and includes free entry into seven of our races, discounted entry into the iconic Labour Day Classic road race, unlimited participation in our weekly Run Groups until December 31st, participation in our Virtual Fun Run Series, and more!

I’m a Full Member, can I do both the 2022 Virtual Fun Run Series and the in-person races?

Absolutely – look at you go! We hoped to inspire you by offering both options this year, but you’re inspiring us!!

(Annoying fact: we did line up the VFRS Challenge Weeks so they end one day before our in-person races, so one run does NOT count towards both 😉)

Where do I find all the details on the 2022 VFRS?

Right here on our website.  This year, we’ve made it easier to submit your results, with a form at the bottom of the page.

Why do I need to register online for my free in-person races?

It allows us to get your bib ready…which generally leads to a smoother start on race day.

What is my discount code for the races?

You should have received the code in your post-registration email.  If you didn’t, don’t hesitate to email us at pgroadrunners@gmail.com or message our Facebook page

What is my BC Athletics number?

If you need it to register for one of our events, there is a BCA# look-up in the online registration form.  Or, you can go to the BCA# look-up site on your own.

Where is all the information on the Heights Fiver?

The Heights Fiver is this Sunday, March 27th at 9am.  The Free Kids Race is at 8:45am

Bib pick-up and day-of registration is at the Kool Cats Kids Care at 6989 Gladstone Drive.  Please allow lots of time, as this is our first in-person race in three years and we might all need a moment to just take that in!

***Please note:  the route has changed this year***

When I registered to become a PGRR member, the post-registration email said I would be receiving an email from BC Athletics to validate my membership – why haven’t I received it?

That was my mistake (Michelle)!  At the time we set up registration, I believed members would have to electronically sign a COVID attestation, in addition to the waivers we include in our online registration.  You do NOT.  Your membership is good to go.

Thanks for bearing with us as we follow Bill Ransome’s lead and continue ‘shaking the cobwebs out’!

Here’s to a fabulous run season!
